“INDIA has an age-old tradition of Gurukul and quality assurance was our brand and now it is the need of the hour for the stakeholders to re-establish this brand through accreditation,” said Dr Anil Sahasrabudhe, Chairman, National Educational Technology Forum (NETF), National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), and National Board of Accreditation (NBA).
He was talking at the workshop on ‘Role of Accreditation in Institutional Building: An NEP 2020 Perspective’ organised by Directorate of Technical Education, Maharashtra State in association with Shri Ramdeobaba College of Engineering and Management, Nagpur. “Access, equity, quality, affordability, and accountability are our mantras NEP-2020 has definitely laid the foundation for a comprehensive revolution in education with its wide range of quality initiatives. I am fully confident that together, we will create the path to make Bharat Vishwaguru,” he said.
Dr Vinod Mohitkar, Director of Technical Education, Maharashtra State highlighted the efforts of DTE in implementing NEP 2020, with regard to Academic Bank of Credit, Dual Degree programme, Paris Sparsh Scheme.
Dr Ravindra Kulkarni, Member, Steering Committee-NEP 2020 implementation, Maharashtra shared his experiences on ‘Curriculum framework for three/four years multi-disciplinary UG and PG programmes’. It is envisioned that from academic year 2023-24, all undergraduate (UG) programmes in Maharashtra will be of 4-years as per the National Education Policy 2020.
Satyanarayan Nuwal, Chairman, RCOEM emphasised on the significance of accreditation and asserted that India has potential to become super power and skilled workforce is the need of the hour. Dr Rajesh Pande, Principal, RCOEM, highlighted the need for reforming and reorienting the education system according to the future needs and hence this workshop. Rajendra Purohit, General Secretary, RCOEM, Joint Director DTE, Nagpur, Dr Manoj Daigawane, Joint Director DTE, Amravati Dr Vijay Mankar, academic leaders including Directors, Principals, Deans from Nagpur and Amravati region and representatives of more than 100 autonomous colleges of Maharashtra were prominently present.
