Miscreant arrested for posing as policeman, duping girl of Rs 1.83 lakh

Ghamapur police have succeeded in apprehending a miscreant for framing himself as policeman and duping a girl of Rs 1.83 lakh. Police have retrieved cash of Rs 25,000, two mobile handsets, debit card, police uniform, police belt and shoes from the accused.
The arrested has been identified as Bhagirath Choudhary (22), son of Mukesh Choudhary, native of Maili village in Belkhera and currently lived at Andhua village in Sanjeevani Nagar. SHO of Ghamapur police station, Chandrakant Jha informed that, a 29-year-old girl lodged a complaint that she started chatting with a boy on facebook. The stranger had registered his ID as Ajay Singh and named himself as Amit Singh Rajput, posted as Sub Inspector. He also sent his photo and video in police uniform and she had faith on him.
Soon after, miscreant proposed her for marriage. She informed her family members about the boy and they also agreed to meet him when he informed that he was currently posted at Police Line in Sagar and will soon meet them with his parents. Miscreant always avoided to attend her video calls and several times took money from her in different installments of Rs 90,000, Rs 61,000 and Rs 32,000 in last five months. She insisted him for meeting when, on April 23, 2023, he reached to meet her at Indian Coffee House, Clock Tower but she refused to identify the man as his face was not matching with photos which she received on facebook and the miscreant managed to escape from the spot.
She immediately contacted to Amit on phone and refused for marrying him and demanded her money back. The miscreant started threatening her for defaming her on social media and committing suicide. She started a search and learnt that the real name of miscreant was Amit alias Golu. Ghamapur police registered a case under Sections 419 and 420 of IPC. Taking a serious note into the case, SP, Tusharkant Vidyarthi (IPS) constituted a team for further investigation and apprehending the accused. Continuing a thorough search, police trapped the miscreant who confessed the crime and police have seized cash of Rs 25,000, 2 mobile handsets, police uniform, belt and shoes from him. The accused was arrested by police team led by SHO, Chandrakant Jha comprised of SI, Dilip Mishra, Head Constables, Rakesh Rawat, Sanjeev Singh, Rakesh Pandey, Constables, Suraj, Vijay and Sanjeevani Nagar’s Constable, Nitin Mishra and Cyber Cell’s Sandeep.
