Students, parents call decision ridiculous

Bowing to pressure from various students’ organisations, Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University (RTMNU) has cancelled the Summer 2023 examinations. The examinations for Under Graduate courses were to begin from May 15, and those of Post Graduate were scheduled from May 22. The timetables of both the examinations were announced and put on display on the RTMNU official website.
The delay is going to make it difficult for students. The results of Winter 2022 examinations have not been declared after even a passage of 90 days, the marksheets of 4 lakh students are not printed for the last one and a half years. This means students are already suffering. Now, the delay would add to their woes. Students and parents shared their grievances with ‘The Hitavada’. “Just because a few students wanted it late, and some student organisations met the University bosses, the administration cancelled the examinations,” a student said.

Cancelling the examinations was a funny decision, according to parents, who said that it raised doubts over the capability of head of the Examination Department. “Either he and his team were not prepared to hold the examinations, or the administration got pressurised,” he said. The examinations, which usually start on March 15, were already delayed by  two months. While declaring the examination timetable for this session, the University had vowed that it would try to end those by May 30. The decision to cancel the examinations, will hamper the prospects of honest and studious students. It is disturbing, ridiculous to know the examinations are canceled. The university has not made it clear now when will it announce the new timetable.” According to highly placed sources, university should have started the process of submitting the examination forms by December, 2022 for the Summer-23 examinations. But, it has started the process now. The examination department should have announced the timetable well in advance so that students should have keep themselves prepared. Dr Praful Sable, Director of Board of Examinations and Evaluation told ‘The Hitavada’, “The examinations have been postponed as several students organisations have demanded so. We will announce the new dates soon.”
