Expressing great ire over insult to the tri-colour by Congress Party, senior office bearers and members of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) burned an effigy of Congress at Malviya Square, on Monday. The protest was staged in response to the inappropriate use of the tricolor in banners and flexes put up by the Congress on arrival of its National General Secretary, Priyanka Vadra in the city. BJYM members alleged that several banners featuring the tricolour depicted upside down and some were even placed under Priyanka Vadra’s feet. At the rally, flags, which are symbols of India’s pride and dignity, were thrown on the ground like garbage. The act insulted the national symbol and provoked the BJYM to burn effigies of Congress and its leaders.

City President of BJP, Prabhat Sahu, condemned the incident as extremely shameful and demanded that the Congress party clarify why such a mistake was made. He stated that if such an incident happened in any other country, it would create an atmosphere of lawlessness throughout the nation. Congress and its leaders should apologize to the citizens for the act. BJYM President, Yogendra Singh expressed his displeasure with the Congress party, stating that they have always been disrespectful to the country. He accused Congress leaders of insulting the country whenever and wherever they get a chance. Even their national leaders go abroad and insult the country.

He said on arrival of Priyanka Vadra, Congress Party has put up banners insulting the tricolour all over the city. The flag was placed under her feet and depicted upside down, which was a disrespectful act towards the tri-colour. The flag was thrown on the ground, and people were walking on it. Singh said BJYM will file an FIR against the act and Congress must apologise to the citizens for their wrongdoing.
