Taking a serious note of rising theft incidents in the city, Superintendent, Tusharkant Vidyarthi IPS instructed the officers to take immediate action against the accused. As a result, Jabalpur police successfully caught five accused actively involved in recent thefts reported in the city. A joint team of Crime Branch and Kotwali thana was constituted under the guidance of Additional Superintendent of Police (City), Priyanka Shukla IPS, ASP Crime, Samar Verma, City Superintendent of Police, Kotwali, Prabhat Shukla, CSP Omti, R D Bhardwaj and CSP Ranjhi, Devendra Singh Chouhan. The team took immediate action and caught thieves associated with mobile and vehicles thefts and seized 27 mobiles and 13 two-wheelers worth Rs 20 lakh.
 
The mobile thieves and vehicle-lifters were arrested within periphery of Khamaria thana included Anand Choudhary (26) resident of village Pipariya Khamariya) and Praveen Singh Rana (22) resident of Narayandham Pariyat Khamariya). Similarly, Hanumantal thana staff arrested 3 juveniles while Naresh Patel (22) from Panarjhir under Dhanera Thana in Seoni, was arrested by Kotwali Police. Arrested accused played active role in majority of thefts reported in recent times in various corners of the city, including theft at a mobile shop from where the thieves took away 23 mobiles. The thieves entered the shop by making a hole in the wall.
