Prajakta, Rajan in Mah squad

CITY athletes Prajakta Godbole and Rajan Yadav have been included in Maharashtra squad for National Senior Inter-State Athletics Championships under way at Bhubneswar in Odisha. The 28-member team was declared by Maharashtra Athletics Association on Thursday. Rajan has made it to the State team for the first time in his sporting career. A member of Track Star Athletics Club, Rajan will be participating in the 3000m steeplechase event. Namhya Foundation’s Prajakta will take part in the 10,000m race. Student of Dr Madhukarrao Wasnik PWS College, Rajan trains under Ravindra Tong who is employed with Police Department. Mahila Mahavidyalaya’s Prajakta is coached by Gaurav Mirase.
 
Prajakta recently won a sliver medal in the Maharashtra State Athletics Championship. She is also part of the RTMNU varsity squad for World University Games. Dr Sharad Suryawanshi hopes that the talented athletes would return with a medal each. Selection of the duo was hailed by President of Nagpur District Athletics Association Gurudeo Nagrale, SJ Anthony, Umesh Naidu, Archana Kottewar, Ramchandra Wani, Nagesh Sahare, Shekhar Suryawanshi, Dr Sanjay Chaudhary, Jitendra Ghordadekar, Dr Yashwant Patil, Dr Saurabh Mohad, Prof Ankush Ghate, Dr Sushant Chimankar, Parag Bansole, Amit Thakur, Dr Brijmohan Rawat, Gajanan Thakre and others.
