■ Now, the University administration is looking at the Collectorate for a solution

THE decision of Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University (RTMNU) to make it mandatory for the students to get their names entered in the electoral rolls before taking admission to the first year (FY ) degree of non-professional courses, has met a hurdle. For, many aspirants have failed to enrol their names in the voters’ list as they have not attained 18 years of age. Due to lack of enthusiasm among youngsters to become a voter, in a meeting of all the university bosses held in Mumbai, State Election Commissioner Shrikant Deshpande had suggested that students should become voters before registering themselves for the admissions to FY courses. Accordingly, RTMNU had made it mandatory for students to enrol as voters first and then seek admission in FY courses. Now, the varsity finds itself in a spot as many students who have passed Class XII examination are yet to complete 18years of age, a criteria tobecome an Indian voter. underage students and will allow them to get admitted for first year degree courses.

Had it discussed all the aspects minutely, the complexity could have been avoided. Why the university makes students to suffer everytime is a million dollar question.” If students face any problem regarding the admission process they can contact on the helpline 8459343878, 7972054980, appealed Dr Raju Hiwase, Registrar of the University and Dr Raman Madne.
