In the true spirit of yoga, Armed Forces celebrated International Day of Yoga with great enthusiasm and fervour across the country, on Wednesday. To mark this momentous occasion, as the first rays of sunlight hit Cobra Integrated Sports Complex on iconic Hoshiar Singh, PVC Marg in Jabalpur Cantt, Headquarters Madhya Bharat Area celebrated the 9th International Day of Yoga. More than 3,300 individuals participated in the event to make it a grand success. Participants from all walks of life, including Army personnel, women, children and civilian employees displayed heartfelt and impassioned commitment to age old practice of yoga. Recognising the significance of ancient practice of yoga as an effective stress buster and an alternative physical regime, the Indian Armed forces embraced the theme for the International Yoga Day 2023: ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’.
 
The celebration aimed to raise awareness about holistic benefits of yoga and promote it as a regular regime worldwide for enhanced well-being. Emphasising that yoga is an invaluable gift from our ancient tradition, he expressed that the world needs yoga and meditation now more than ever. In the practice session which ensued, various Asanas, Pranayama and meditation were demonstrated and performed by all. As soldiers of Indian Army are posted in different terrains varying from glaciers to deserts in harsh climatic conditions, Yoga helps them to combat diseases, psychological stress and fatigue. The respiratory adaptations of Pranayama help soldiers to adapt to the environment where the oxygen levels are low and make them even more fit to operate in challenging environments. Lt Gen MK Das, General Officer Commanding, MB Area wished good health to all and urged to take a resolution to incorporate yoga into their lives for a healthier and happier existence.
