Under ‘Operation Shikanja’, Jabalpur police successfully arrested two drug peddlers involved in smuggling of ganja and seized 136.3 kg of ganja worth Rs 27 lakh and a truck worth Rs 20 lakh, on Thursday. While addressing a press conference at Police Control Room on Thursday, Superintendent of Police, Tushar Kant Vidyarthi (IPS) informed that Gorakhpur Police received a tip-off on Thursday that a truck (MH 18 BG 8078) was parked suspiciously between Tilwara and Nayagaon in which ganja was being smuggled. Police took immediate action under NDPS (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances) Act Protocols and strategically raided the truck at Nayagaon Hanuman Temple. Police identified the person on the driver seat as Bhupendra Yadav (31), a resident of Uday Nagar Colony, Dehat District, Vidisha and cleaner as Dongar Singh Yadav (24), a resident of Village Bijauniya, Vidisha. Police searched the truck and found six bags filled with 136.3 kg of ganja worth Rs 27.20 lakh and also seized the truck worth Rs 20 lakh and 105 bags of coconuts loaded on it. Gorakhpur police booked the accused under sections 8 and 20 of NDPS Act and interrogating the accused about the ganja.
 
Additional Director General of Police Jabalpur Zone, Jabalpur Umesh Joga (IPS) has especially instructed all the Superintendents of Police to take stern action against drug peddlers involved in smuggling ofdrugs and other narcotic substances. The operation to nab the accused red handed and seize ganja was carried out under the direction of
Superintendent of Police Tushar Kant Vidhyarthi (IPS) and supervision of Additional Superintendent of Police, Sanjay Kumar Agrawal and City Superintendent of Police, Gorakhpur, Pratishtha Rathore. Sub Inspector, Narcotic Control Unit Office, Rohi Jyotshi, Constable Pritam Singh Marko and Upendra Gautam, SHO, Gorakhpur Arvind Chubey, Sub Inspector Sheshnarayan, ASI Rajeev Dubey, Head Constable Deepak Mishra, Constable Anup Dehriya, Javed, Satyanarayan, Ravi Sagar Pandey, Pramod Mishra, Mohit Rajput and Shailesh played a commendable role on making this operation a success.
