Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Nagpur signed an MoU with district administration to formalise the District Development Strategy (DDS) plans, on Sunday. Dr Bhimaraya Metri, Director, IIM Nagpur, signed the MoU with District Collector Dr Vipin Itankar in the presence of Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Divisional Commissioner Vijaylakshmi Bidari. IIM Nagpur will help develop guidelines assisting the District Collectors in the formation of action plans and strategies that could be adopted to turn Nagpur district into the preferred destination for investments for the corporate world by augmenting capacities, identifying new opportunities, leveraging new technologies and scientific and historical data thus resulting in the devolution of funds, functionaries and functions.
The existing growth plan for the Nagpur district is to allocate various budgets based on the availability of funds and as per the projections of respective departments on their strategies. Hence, the need is felt to have a cohesive approach to move beyond the conventional allocation and monitoring of the budgets.

Considering the vital need to focus on concerted efforts and synergise coordination and convergence of the results to achieve a collaborative approach specific to the district’s needs and exploit the advantages with a systemic approach, IIM Nagpur will function as a consultant to help the administration develop action plans and strategies that could be adopted for the achievement of the growth vision. IIM Nagpur will help the administration in developing a time-bound action plan to define a smart short, medium and long-term action plan, including objectives, initiatives, budgetary provisions, timelines for executions, completion, policy reforms for each sub-sector identified. Prioritisation of action plans/programmes to align them with the Government of Maharashtra and Government of India priority plans. The Institute will also identify policy gaps that would be detrimental to the growth agenda and bring them to the notice of policymakers in the State.
