Thousands of people living in five wards of Ranjhi area have been irate by the lack of water supply for the past 3 to 4 days. In response to the pressing issue, local residents along with the BJP Corporators staged massive protest in front of Ranjhi Water Treatment Plant, raising slogans against the Jabalpur Municipal Corporation administration.
Holding empty earthen pots in their hands, the agitated locals vowed to continue their protest until they receive adequate water supply. During the demonstration, protesters also submitted a memorandum, designated to the Municipal Commissioner, to officer-in-charge of the Water Treatment Plant, demanding swift action to resolve the water scarcity in the five wards of Ranjhi.
These wards include Ambedkar Ward, Maharshi Sudarshan Ward, Chandrashekhar Ward, Bhagat Singh Ward and Lalalajpat Rai Ward. Corporator Damodar Soni highlighted the grave situation faced by the residents in five wards of Ranjhi, expressing their distress and mounting troubles. He said despite repeated complaints to concerned authorities of the Municipal Corporation, no relief has been provided. On the other hand, officials from the Water Treatment Plant stated that the water level of Pariyat reservoir has reached to extreme low and repair work is underway on the Bargi canal, leading to this inconvenience. However, they assured that the water problem would be resolved soon. It may be noted that unparalleled water crises occurred due to very low water level in Pariyat reservoir. Due to the same the JMC is providing potable water only morning time to the citizens of Ranjhi and adjoining areas. The residents are hopeful that peaceful protests will compel the authorities to take immediate action and ensure uninterrupted water supply in the affected wards.
