Nagpur city police have launched a special operation to tackle the rising trend of youths performing dangerous stunts and filming reckless videos on social media platforms. The police have registered criminal offences against these self-proclaimed social media ‘heroes’ as they are endangering the lives of innocent commuters with their hazardous acts.
In the first case, the Pratap Nagar police booked a gang of youths involved in dangerous driving practices. Their reckless acts were brought to the attention of Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar when a video filmed by the gang members went viral on social media. The CP ordered the traffic police to investigate the matter and take necessary action immediately.
Upon reviewing the footage, the Traffic Police identified the riders involved in the dangerous driving practices. By capturing the vehicle registration numbers from the video, they summoned the drivers and their parents to the police station. The police registered cases against the riders and imposed fines totaling over Rs one lakh. The police seized 12 vehicles associated with the gang.
In another incident, a notorious criminal Sameer Stylo was booked by the Kapil Nagar police. The accused was seen dancing on the roof of a car in a reckless manner. However, upon the registration of the offence, the anti-social went into hiding. A police team is conducting a search to apprehend him. Furthermore, his car has been seized by the police as part of their investigation. It is worth noting that he was previously arrested for kidnapping and threatening a girl with a knife. CP Kumar said, “We are sending a strong message to these social media 'heroes' that their actions have real-world consequences. They will be held accountable for endangering the lives of innocent citizens.”
