Muslim brethren across the district, on Thursday, celebrated Eid-al-Adha in remembrance of the sacrifice that Prophet Ibrahim made out of his strong faith in Allah. The festival was celebrated with peace and harmony as per tradition. Conveying the message of renunciation, sacrifice and mutual trust, the followers assembled at Ranital Idgah and other idgahs in the city. Maulana Mushahid Raza, in his address, motivated followers to strengthen brotherhood. He explained about significance of sacrifice and appealed to maintain peace and patience as few anti-social elements are constantly targeting the peaceful atmosphere and communal harmony in the country. We all need not come under the influence of such provocative elements.

Maulana Mushahid Raza emphasised over the need of education to pursue progressive path as education helps to earn respect and employment. After Maulana’s address, followers offered Namaz under the headship of Nayeb Mufti-e-Azam Sufi Ziaul Haq Kadri Burhani. They exchanged Eid greetings by hugging each other. Earlier, the district administration made security and other arrangements surrounding all the idgahs in the city and district on the occasion of Eid. Mayor Jagat Bahadur Singh, S K Muddin from Muslim Manch, Collector Saurabh K Suman, Superintendent of Police Tusharkant Vidyarthi and other officers visited Ranital Idgah to convey warm greetings of Eid. Eid-al-Adha commemorates willingness of Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham) to sacrifice his son as an act of obedience to God.

However, just as Ibrahim was about to carry out the sacrifice, Allah provided a lamb as a substitute, symbolising the ultimate act of faith and submission to God’s will. Families and friends came together during Eid-al-Adha to share meals, exchange gifts and engage in joyful festivities. The Muslim followers were dressed in new attires and visited relatives, neighbours and friends to exchange greetings and warm wishes.
