Huge response to NMC’s cycle rally

NAGPUR Municipal Corporation (NMC) and Nagpur Smart and Sustainable City Development Corporation Limited celebrated World Bicycle Day by organising cycle rally on Saturday. Divisional Commissioner Vijayalakshmi Bidari flagged of the rally. Municipal Commissioner and Administrator Radhakrishnan B, Collector Dr Vipin Itankar, Deputy Commissioner of Police Vijay Sagar, Municipal Deputy Commissioner Suresh Bagle, Deputy Commissioner Dr Ravindra Bhelawe, Director of Solid Waste Management Department Gajendra Mahalle, international cyclist and Bicycle Mayor of Nagpur Dr Amit Samarth, Assistant Commissioner (Information and Technology Department) Mahesh Dhamecha, Assistant Commissioner Prakash Warade, Assistant Commissioner Ganesh Rathod, Medical Health Officer Dr Narendra Bahirwar, Additional Medical Health Officer Vijay Joshi, Executive Engineer Naresh Borkar, Sports Officer Dr Piyush Ambulkar, Education Officer Rajendra Pusekar, Public Relations Officer Manish Soni, Pranita Umredkar, former ruling party leader Avinash Thakre, former corporator Vijay Zalke were present.
Cyclist from 6 years to 85 years old participated in the rally. NMC felicitated several cyclists for their participation. Renu Sidhu and Dr Rajendra Jaiswal, 6-year-old Samya Mahajan and Swara Gajbhiye, Daksh Khandekar and Tej as the youngest cyclist and Phulmati Lade as the oldest cyclist, Dr Bhupendra Arya and Dhanajirao Shinde and as the oldest ‘cycling couple,’ Pradeep and Shobha Deshpande were honoured.
Alka Wanjari was honoured for participating in rally with excellent message while Nita Kumari won award for best bicycle decoration. Tiger City Cycling Group and The Cyclist were awarded as the Best Cycling Groups.
International cyclist who completed Race Across India including Dr Amit Samarth, Atul Kadu, Shubham Das, Gaurav Gajbhiye, Berlin and London Marathon participant Ashish Aggarwal, Comrades Kalyani Satija, Rajat Nagpal, Suresh Zhanwar, Dr Sanjay Jaiswal, Krishnanath Patil, Rajendra Jaiswal, Dilip Warkhade, Sunita Dhote, Kavita Mundle, Dr Bhupendra Arya and others were also feted.
SANKET SHUBHANGI WIN CYCLES Sanket Bawankar and Shubhangi Supare emerged the lucky draw winners of the rally. Both received a Gang VX bicycle each from Cheap Cycle Stores.
