BHILAI,
Chhattisgarh Congress In-charge, Kumari Selja, attributed the Congress party’s resounding victory in the recent election to the dedicated efforts of numerous committed party workers. Speaking to the media after the party’s divisional conference, Selja highlighted the significance of the conference in reinvigorating party workers at the booth level. Selja emphasised the advantage of Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel hailing from the Durg division, expressing confidence that the Congress government’s successful implementation of various schemes and substantial developments would secure a clean sweep in all twenty seats of the division.
She further noted that under Congress rule, Chhattisgarh had emerged as a model state in terms of providing quality education to all sections of society, fostering development in both urban and rural areas, and improving healthcare services. Selja anticipated that these achievements would earn the trust and support of the people of Chhattisgarh in the upcoming Assembly election.
Addressing a question about the criteria for ticket distribution in the Assembly poll, Selja explained that the party would conduct a comprehensive survey and evaluate the performance of each MLA before considering and allocating candidatures. During the interaction when the Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel was asked about Vijay Baghel’s statement of his ability to put up a strong fight in Patan, Baghel responded by stating that he was disqualified by his own party for the Congress to win all 20 seats in Durg... candidacy in the assembly constituency. The party instead decided to field an outsider candidate Motilal Sahu. In response to a question about the party’s inability to implement a liquor ban in the State, Baghel explained that they have chosen to continue with the liquor policy established by the BJP. He further added that implementing a liquor ban was considered a difficult task, especially during the Covid wave, as there were unfortunate cases of people consuming sanitiser and the possibility of spurious liquor being circulated.
