After about a month-and-a-half of fun during the summer vacation, students stepped in their classes with huge enthusiasm as schools in Nagpur district reopened on Friday. Maharashtra Government, in April, had announced that the schools in Vidarbha would reopen after June 30 for the academic session 2023-24. In other parts of the State, schools reopened on June 15. The extension to the summer vacation was allowed by the Government for Vidarbha schools because of high temperature in the region. Usually, except during coronavirus pandemic, schools across Vidarbha reopen by June 27 every year. This year, the Government extended the date of reopening of the schools only for Vidarbha region due to harsh summer.

Chirping has resumed in city schools on Friday. At some schools, symbolic cartoon characters welcomed the students while at some of the schools, the children were greeted with yummy treat and roses of the first day of the new academic session. The kids, who took tender steps in the pre-primary class for the first time couldn’t stop crying while their parents bid good bye. Schools in the city conducted two sessions in the morning and afternoon. Therefore, parents rushed to drop their children on the first day. School vans, vehicles of parents who came to drop children showed a picture of traffic congestion in school premises. Students were happy to meet friends and teachers after a long time. After meeting friends, before the school bell rang, running games were also played in the school premises. Every year, when school starts, it starts raining. This year the rains came late, but a week ago, the monsoon entered in city. As it was raining on Friday, students brought umbrellas and raincoats with them to schools.

In most schools, students were seen worshiping Goddess Swaraswati in the beginning. Educational materials were distributed on this occasion. The students were welcomed with bouquets of flowers in the school. There was joy all over during the reopening of schools. In schools run by Zilla Parishad ‘Prabhat Feri’ was taken out. In most schools the schools prepared themselves to welcome the students. Some schools distributed a set of books, distributed uniforms. To make the first day of the new class memorable, a set of new blank books too was given. Under Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan, free textbooks were distributed to more than one and a half lakh students of Class I to Class VIII in the city and district. The education department has ordered to take action against those responsible for non-receipt of uniforms to the students of some schools.

Zilla Parishad President Mukta Kokadde and Vice President Kunda Raut visited Zilla Parishad schools. Both paid a visit to a school at Hiwara Bazar at 9 am on Friday. Surprisingly no one was present in the school. So Kokadde and Raut themselves opened the school gate and entered into the school. According to Ramtek Correspondent: On the first day of the academic session 2023-24, on Friday textbooks and uniforms were distributed to the students of Zilla Parishad Primary School, Sheetalwadi (Parsoda).
