ADI Chitnis emerged men’s singles champion in the Shruti Club Open Ranking Table Tennis Tournament that concluded at Table Tennis Hall, beside Subhedar Hall, University Sports Complex, late on Monday night. After gruelling semi-finals that went to the wire, it was Chitnis, who played a game less in the last-four tie, who came up trumps. In the summit clash, Chitnis blanked Tejas Wasnikar 4-0 taking the games 11-07, 11-09, 11-04, 11-06. In the semi-finals, Chitnis defeated Koustubh Udar 11-09, 11-07, 09-11, 11-04, 08-11, 11-04 losing two games while Wasnikar overcame a two-game deficit to tame Jayesh Kulkarni 4-3 (08-11, 09-11, 11-08, 11-06, 09-11, 11-08, 11-07) in a game that was stretched to the limit.
