Amid ruckus over Sidhi urination incident, first day of Assembly’s Monsoon Session was adjourned till Wednesday by the Speaker. As expected, the stormy session began with Opposition’s demand to discuss Sidhi incident on priority but with Speaker Girish Gautam’s intervention ritual of Vande Mataram began. Leader of Opposition Govind Singh proposed to discuss the matter of urination on a tribal man first. After that, former Chief Minister Kamal Nath stood up and said “Madhya Pradesh has become number one in atrocities on SC and ST as per the Central agency’s report.” Raising objection over Leader of Opposition’s proposal, Minister of Legislative Affairs, and Home Minister Narottam Mishra said “As the matter was already discussed in the all-party meeting and there was no decision on a notice (on this issue) in the Business Advisory Committee. The issue has ended there so there is no need to discuss it here. He also objected to Kamal Nath in the House saying “everyone can’t be granted time to give speech on a single issue.” Interrupting Mishra’s argument, former minister Sajjain Sigh Verma stood up and questioned the role of the Business Advisory Committee saying that it was discussed in an all-party meeting but the committed did not arrive at any a conclusion, so the Home Minister’s statement about the conclusion is not true.” He demanded to discuss the same on the floor of the House.

Seeing no end soon to the heated debate between Sajjain Singh Verma and Home Minister Narottam Mishra, Speaker adjourned the House proceedings for five minutes. The first day of the five-day seating of this session was marked by tribute to Madhukar Harne, Ramesh Sharma (Guttu Bhaiya), former Union Minister Prakash Singh Badal, former Union Minister Ratan Lal Kataria, former Chief Secretary, Nirmala Buch, devotees who lost their lives at Indore’s Beleshawar Temple and deceased in Khargone bus accident. After the paying tributes, the House resumed its business with question hour. It began with MLA Kalpana Verma raising the matter of pension and increment of Government employees. Replying to her question, Finance Minister Jagdish Devda said that as the matter is in the court He can’t divulge much on this.

Over Devda’s statement, Opposition MLAs P C Sharma objected saying if the Government clears the situation with some changes then things will become clearer and pendency in the court will also be rectified. He said, “Employees who retired on July 1, are getting pension while those who retired on June 30 are not having pension. With small amendments, matter can be solved easily and there won’t be a need to continue matter in the court only after the Government’s action. Much can be done in favour of employees. “Seeing the heated argument over the employees pension matter, the Speaker adjourned the House for ten minutes. When the House reassembled, Congress MLAs continued sloganeering against the Government, went to the well of the House and demanded discussion on the Sidhi incident. Meanwhile, Speaker Gautam proceeded with the listed matters and adjourned the House proceedings for a day. The House will resume at 11 am on Wednesday.
