COMMUNIST Party of India (Maoist), obviously disturbed over the major reverses it has suffered in the past some time despite executing some actions, has now resorted to criticising two top police officers of Chhattisgarh and Maharashtra in a press release. Both the Indian Police Service (IPS) officers have flayed the Maoists for resorting to such gimmicks. It shows that the strength of the Maoists is on the wane, the police officers said. The Central Committee, Central Regional Bureau of CPI (Maoist) issued a press release on Thursday hurling accusations against the IPS officers namely P Sundar Raj, Inspector General of Police, Bastar Division, Chhattisgarh; and Neelotpal, Superintendent of Police, Gadchiroli district, Maharashtra. The proscribed organisation accused the police officers of ‘circulating lies’ about weakening of the Left Wing Extremists. “IG Sundar Raj Pattilingam is doing this to create confusion among people regarding Maoist movement. He resorts to spreading lies about revolutionary movement and misleading the people,” read the statement. Besides, the Maoists accused Neelotpal of twisting the facts relating to Khedmarra ‘fake encounter’ by releasing video of the incident. In the said release, the Maoists have also appealed to the intellectuals to ‘refute the police statements’. The outlaws also appealed to the media ‘not to write stories that are far from reality’. The said press release has been issued by the Maoists after their Central Committee’s letter to its cadres got leaked. In the said leaked letter, the Maoists had admitted to have suffered major reverses due to concerted action by the security agencies.

Asked about the latest press release of the Maoists and his name figuring in it, P Sundar Raj, Inspector General, Bastar Division, Chhattisgarh, told ‘The Hitavada’ that the leadership of banned CPI (Maoist) was highly frustrated due to their fast eroding base area and depleting cadre strength, in the recent time. Losing many of their Central Committee and Politburo members in the last four years, the remainder of tired and ageing Maoist leadership is trying to run the show through sensational press releases and fabricated statements, he said.

According to P Sundar Raj, this only indicates that the atrocious and cruel Left Wing outfit responsible for death of more than 1,700 innocent native people of Bastar region is facing extinction. “Maoists are devoid of any real issues and ideology and are trying to keep themselves relevant through propaganda gimmicks. Bastar Police and security forces deployed here are committed towards peace and development of the region and welfare of the local population. We are hopeful of witnessing the end of Left Wing Extremism sooner than expected,” he observed. Neelotpal dubbed the Maoist press release mentioning his name as ‘nothing but a desperate attempt by Maoists to boost the morale of their cadres. “They are already losing ground in Gadchiroli for the past two to three years due to dwindling public support and excellent action on anti-Naxal front by Gadchiroli Police,” he said. Also, the SP said that no such video of Khedmarra incident was released by Gadchiroli Police on the day of incident or subsequently after.
