Diploma Engineering courses in State have evoked good response. The initiatives taken by Directorate of Technical Education (DTE) have worked this time as about five years ago response to Diploma courses had gone down drastically. There are 52 Polytechnic colleges in six districts of the region with 12,500 seats. Over 12,000 students applied for those many seats. In Nagpur district there are 20 polytechnic colleges with the intake of 5,409. In Government Polytechnic College there are 882 seats.

The final merit list will be displayed on July 21. On July 22, the round 2 of Centralised Admission Process (CAP) will begin. In 2021 there were 13,492 seats available in Nagpur wherein 7,573 students had taken admission. Then the colleges registered the vacancy of 5,919 seats. But the condition has improved this year.

The reason behind the inclination of students towards Polytechnic or ITI lies in job prospects. Most industries search for students doing Diploma Engineering or those who study in Industrial Training Institutes (ITI). They get skilled employees in ITI and Polytechnic colleges. One of six Pharma colleges in Vid: This year Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) has sanctioned six new Pharmacy colleges in Maharashtra. Of the six only one is from Vidarbha. Abha Gaikwad Patil College of Pharmacy, Wardha Road, Mohgaon with the intake of 60 received permission. The college has started admitting students for the academic year 2023-24.

‘Students can procure urgent certificate’

“It is an admission season and many students need some certificates on urgent basis. If a student wants any certificate related to admission on urgent basis, he or she can directly approach me with necessary proof. I shall immediately instruct our officials to provide the certificates to the students,” said Santosh Khandre, Tahsildar, Nagpur city. Khandre told ‘The Hitavada’, “As various admission procedures are going on, students have thronged SETU. We received some complaints where people fed up of crowd try to get their work done through Agents. I request them not to approach any Agent. If anybody demand money from them they should lodge complaint with us, we will take action.”
