RAIPUR,
The 17th session of the fifth Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly is set to commence on Tuesday, bringing together lawmakers to address important business and government matters. The session, scheduled from July 18 to 21, will witness four sittings during which key decisions will be made. To begin the session, the House will pay tribute to late Vidyaratan Bhasin, MLA from Vaishali Nagar who recently passed away.
On July 19, the first supplementary budget will be tabled in the House, indicating the government’s priorities and financial plans. However, the main opposition party, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), has announced its intent to bring a no-confidence motion against the ruling Congress government. This move is likely to generate heated discussions and debates in the assembly. With the upcoming assembly elections scheduled for November, the BJP is expected to raise various issues to challenge the ruling Congress government and gain political mileage. The session presents an opportunity for the opposition party to make its case and put the ruling party on the defensive.
Not to be outdone, the Congress party has also devised strategies to respond effectively to the opposition’s challenges. With the session being the last one of the fifth Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly, all the Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) will be bid farewell, symbolising the conclusion of their term. The session holds significant importance for both the ruling Congress and opposition BJP as they aim to shape public opinion and secure political advantages before the impending elections.
