A coach of Vande Bharat Express from Rani Kamalapati Railway Station to Hazrat Nizamuddin (20171) caught fire in Bina on Monday morning. However, it was a minor incident as there was no casualty. The fire caught in the battery box of coach C-14. Videos went viral on social media displayed the flame and smoke emerging from the coach. The train was put on halt at Bina station and fire brigade team reached the spot. It took around an hour for fire brigade team and Railway staff to control the fire. The train got late by 3:15 hours due to the incident. According to passengers, the train departed Rani Kamalapati Station at 5:40 hours and when trained reached at Kalhar station, people saw smoke coming out of the battery box.
When guard informed to the pilot team, train took halt at Kurrai Kethora near Bina at 7:10 am. Fire brigade team was also informed about the incident. There were 36 passengers in the coach. Fire brigade team douse the fire by 7:58 and then battery box was detached from the coach. Electric supply of the coach was stopped and passengers were shifted to C-2 coach and train departed at 10:19 hours. Passengers were also supplied food when team was working for the same. When the train reached Bina station, it took ten minutes halt for further checking.
Sources said that many bureaucrats and political leaders, including IAS Avinash Lavania, Congress leader Ajay, Singh were travelling in the train. Divisional Railway Manager (DRM), Bhopal, Saurabh Bandopadhyay said, “guard immediately informed the pilot team and train was put on halt. A five-member committee including Senior Divisional Safety Officer, Senior Divisional Electrical Engineer, Civil Divisional Mechanical Engineer, Senior Divisional Operational Manager, Senior DSC (Commandant) will be probing the incident. Technical safety audit of the train will be held at Delhi.” CPRO Rahul Srivastav said, “As the train was halted, extra food was arranged for the passengers.”
