As the Niti Aayog report claims decrease in multi-dimensional poverty at nation-level and indicates excellent performance by Madhya Pradesh government as well, an elated BJP State President, V D Sharma, appreciated Shivraj Chouhan-led government for taking steps in poverty eradication and successfully implementing central government's welfare schemes. Inflation rate has also been reduced to 8.1 per cent, he added. He said, “according to the ‘National Multidimensional Poverty Index 13.5 crore people came out of multidimensional poverty between 2015-16 and 2019-21; it could become possible due to Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji’s determination. In 2014, Prime Minister stated that the Government is very concern about poverty eradication, under his leadership sincere efforts were being taken up subsequently India has registered a significant decline of 9.89 percentage points in the number of multidimensionally poor, from 24.85% in 2015-16 to 14.96% in 2019-2021. "
Recalling popular slogans made by Congress during former Late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi era, he said they used to only talk about poverty removal. Concrete efforts and intentions were lacking; above all corruption had engulfed welfare schemes. According to the ‘National Multidimensional Poverty Index: A Progress Review 2023’. The report was released by the Niti Aayog in New Delhi on July 17. It claims that about 13.5 crore people came out of multidimensional poverty during the period, assessed by identifying “acute deprivations in health, education and standard of living” using United Nations-approved parameters. Sharma also congratulated Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan as 1.36 crore people left behind the below poverty category in the state. He also highlighted growth and progress’ upward trend achieved by the state saying “Jan Dhan accounts of 4.10 crore people were also opened in Madhya Pradesh, through which they started getting the benefits of DBT. Recently 10 lakh PM housing has been approved here. Madhya Pradesh holds the top position for issuing Ayushman cards. Recently, one crore Ayushman cards were distributed in Shahdol. The State Government has taken several steps in the field of good governance, digitisation of land records is one among those. Our officials are being felicitated by the honourable President.”
