Uproar after blast claims 3 at UltraTech Plant

 

 

Chaos and anger engulfed the Hirmi-based UltraTech Cement Plant after the news of a devastating explosion spread like wildfire. The horrifying incident resulted in the immediate deaths of three labourers, leaving the entire community in shock and mourning. The unfortunate accident occurred when an oxygen cylinder exploded in the plant premises, causing an immense uproar among the workers and nearby villagers. Witnesses present at the scene described a scene of utter devastation, with the bodies of the deceased labourers propelled nearly 35 to 40 feet away by the force of the blast. The magnitude of the tragedy raised alarming questions about the safety protocols at the plant, pointing to a significant security lapse.

 

In the aftermath of the explosion, enraged workers and villagers united in protest, bringing operations at the UltraTech Cement plant to an abrupt halt. They swiftly blocked the plant's entrance, demanding justice for the lost lives and answers from the management regarding the incident. The air was thick with emotions as the bereaved families, co-workers, and local community members sought accountability and immediate action. The agitated crowd engaged in several rounds of intense talks with the plant's management in an attempt to find a resolution. However, their initial efforts to evade responsibility and secrecy in revealing the true cause of the explosion only fueled the flames of unrest. The workers accused the management of hiding behind a veil of silence and attempting to settle the matter privately with the contractor and the victims' families.

 

As the tension mounted, public representatives joined the chorus of dissent, lending their support to the workers' cause. The media's presence also added further pressure on the management to address the concerns raised and clarify the circumstances that led to the tragic loss of lives. The situation reached a tipping point when the workers and their families finally secured an agreement with the management at 2 O’clock in the night. The written settlement stipulated that each successor of the deceased labourers would receive Rs 35 lakh in compensation along with the assurance of regular job opportunities within the company. The compensation amount was also handed over in cash, five lakh rupees and Rs 30 lakh as cheque for each family, offering a semblance of relief amidst the grief-stricken environment. In the wake of the tragedy, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel expressed profound sorrow and extended his condolences to the grieving families. He urged the District Administration to provide unwavering support to those affected by the disaster and ensure that the injured workers receive the best possible medical care in Raipur.
