THE duo of Dishank Sachin Bajaj and Siddhant Gawai emerged winner and runner-up in the Nagpur District Diamond (75th) Jubilee Weekend Open Rapid Chess Tournament that concluded at Naivedhyam Eastoria, Kalamna on Sunday. In the two-day tournament, that was organised by Nagpur District Chess Association (NDCA), 168 players participated. Both Dishank and Siddhant scored an identical 8.5 points each but the tie-breaker ruled Dishank the winner who pocketed Rs 15,000 cash prize while Siddhant got a purse of Rs 11,000. Both players also won glittering trophies.
 
Saurabh Lokhande (Rs 9,000 + trophy), Ravindra Singh Rawat (7,000), Pujjam Bansod (5,000), Rashmika Maringanti (3,000), Kushagra Paliwal (2,000), Ramteke Sumedh (1,500), Sheikh Jilani (1,000) and Maras Sahejveer Singh (1,000) all finished with seven points in their kitty but again the tie-breaker rated them from third to tenth respectively (prize money in bracket). Players from 11th to 25 were also rewarded with cash prizes ranging from Rs 800 to Rs 500 each.
Ishwar Ramteke and Aashi Dalal were adjudged as the Best Veteran and Best Female player respectively and were awarded Rs 1000 + trophy apiece.Dilip Kamdar, President, NDCA was chief guest of the prize distribution function. Other guests present were KK Barat, Secretary NDCA, SN Parkhi, Treasurer and Pravin Pantawane, chief Arbiter. Cash prizes to the tune of Rs 75,000 was distributed to top players.
