CITY runners Bhaskar Landge, Dattakumar Sonawale, Avani Ashtekar and Pushpesh Saini emerged victorious in the 5th edition of the Pachmarhi Monsoon Marathon which was successfully organised in Pachmarhi by Adventures and You in association with Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board. Landge of Jai Athletics Club, Nagpur stood overall 1st in the men’s half marathon. Sonawale, an employee of Government Ayurvedic Hospital, stood overall first in the men’s 10km race while Pushpesh Saini finished third in the men’s full marathon. Avani Ashtekar also of Nagpur finished overall second in the half marathon for women. Neeraj Kumar Singh, Collector, Narmadapuram, Hoshangabad, flagged off the event. He also ran and successfully completed the 21kms half marathon.
Race Director MiteshRambhia informed that 1364runners from across the lengthand breadth of the country participated in the event. The full marathon had anelevation of nearly 1000 metersmaking it one of the most difficult full marathons of India,informed Rambhia. l Krishnamurthy, FieldDirector, Satpuda NationalPark, Shri Kamal Dhoot,Chairman, SADA, Pachmarhi,Yuvraj Padole, Deputy DirectorEvents, MPTB, Dr SantoshKumar Shrivastava, JointDirector Adventure and WaterSports, MPTB were prominently present during the prizedistribution ceremony
