Uncertainty still looms large over which company would get the tender for Dial 100. At present, the old company, Bharat Vikas Group (BVG), will have to handle the work for three months. Many vehicles included in Dial 100 service have been arranged by this company. Now, after getting permission to work till September, BVG company will run Dial 100 services with vehicles, most of which are very old. Around 25 per cent of first response vehicles (FRVs) have broken down and subsequently taken off the road. The tender process for Centralised Control Room Dial-100 of Madhya Pradesh Police started in March. This was the fifth time the tender process was struck. Prior to this, the company was selected in the tender process held four times. Due to some reasons, the tender got cancelled. This time EMRI Green Health Services was on first number whereas BVG was on the second spot. A proposal has been sent to the Government for approving the tender. Before the Government could take any decision on it, BVG approached the High Court.
The company has raised objections to Dial 100 in the tender. The High Court gave a stay on this. Now, the matter is hanging in balance till the next hearing. It is being said that due to the stay by the High Court, even the Government can’t do anything in this matter. Hence, BVG company has been told to work till September. BVG has been given extension for the seventh time. It is believed that the process of tender and arrival of new vehicles will take at least three months. Even if the Government starts further action immediately after the court’s decision, it will take three months for the company to come up with new vehicles. At present, due to lack of maintenance, more than 25 percent FRVs are not in a good condition and subsequently taken off the road. The vehicles hired by the company are being used in the FRV.
There are 1,050 police stations in the state and each of them has FRVs, however, many of emergency service vehicles have become obsolete and lying defunct at the police stations or service garage. Innova and Bolero instead of Safari: Now the FRV vehicles will be hi-tech and upgraded. As per the new tender terms, instead of Safari Storme, Bolero will be engaged for rural areas and Innova for urban areas.
