CITY shuttler Devika Kawale, who is playing competitive event after a gap of one year, displayed excellent control to make it to the main draw of Yonex Sunrise All India Senior Ranking Badminton Tournament being played at Gopichand Academy Hyderabad, conducted by Badminton Association of Telangana, on Tuesday.
Devika won the final qualifying round defeating 11th seed Pravini S of Karnataka 15-13, 15-12 to qualify for the main draw.
Devika, who is coached by international player and Junior India coach Kiran Makode, had a tough second round where she struggled to quell the challenge of Aishwarya Mehta in three tough games 15-10, 13-15, 15-4. In third round she defeated Chandan Gurram 15-8, 15-5 before prevailing over Pravani.
