RAIPUR,
In a spirited address to a massive crowd at the University Ground, Prime Minister Narendra Modi kick-started the election campaign of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Chhattisgarh. Modi took the opportunity to target the Congress Government on various issues, including corruption and scams, as he rallied the enthusiastic crowd. The event began with a tribute to BJP workers who tragically lost their lives in a road accident while travelling to attend the public meeting. During his speech, Prime Minister Modi highlighted the inauguration of projects worth Rs 7,500 crore, including the Raipur-Vizag corridor.

He emphasised that these infrastructure developments would not only improve the lives of the people but also generate thousands of employment opportunities. Pointing to the upcoming 25th anniversary of Chhattisgarh, Modi stressed the significance of the next 25 years for the state's progress. However, he accused the Congress party of obstructing this progress and encroaching upon the rights of the people. One of the key issues raised by Prime Minister Modi was the Congress Government's failure to fulfill its promise of implementing liquor prohibition. He accused the Congress of engaging in a liquor scam worth thousands of crores, deceiving women in the process. Allegedly, the commission generated from the liquor trade was funnelled into Congress party accounts, leading to a dispute over commission allocation and the delayed implementation of the prohibition formula.

Modi also criticised the Congress Government for the flourishing presence of coal mafia, sand mafia, land mafia, and various other criminal activities in Chhattisgarh. He further alleged corruption within the Ministerial ranks, including the mismanagement of the Jal Jeevan Mission. The Prime Minister lashed out at the opposition parties, mocking their attempts to come together despite their history of animosity towards one another. He asserted that these attempts to form alliances were driven by a fear of Modi's commitment to combating corruption. Modi assured the crowd that those involved in wrongdoing would not be spared, despite threats and conspiracies against him. Highlighting his own humble background, Modi expressed his understanding of the struggles faced by the poor and the importance of connecting villages with roads. He emphasised the BJP Government's dedication to infrastructure development and increased funding for roads and railways.

Prime Minister Modi also underlined the BJP's efforts in combating Naxalism, stating that the number of Naxal-affected districts in the country had reduced significantly under the BJP's anti-Naxal movement. The speech encompassed various welfare schemes and initiatives undertaken by the BJP Government, including the Ayushman Yojana, which provided free treatment to over 40 lakh poor individuals, and the distribution of free ration during the COVID-19 pandemic.
