DRIVING vehicles with worn out tyres, wrong-side entry on the expressway, lane-cutting, overspeeding have emerged as some of the major concerns as far as road safety on Samruddhi Mahamarg is concerned. As per the data collected by Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) till July 1, counselling for worn-out tyres was done in a whopping 21,050 cases from entry side of the expressway. The maximum 4,319 cases of these were from Aurangabad entry point, followed by 3,531 from Shrirampur entry, and 2,742 from Buldhana entry. From Nagpur entry side, counselling was done in total 2,696 cases. From Amravati entry side, counselling for worn-out tyres was done in 2,233 cases, followed by 2,036 cases at Jalna entry, 1,852 at Washim, and 1,641 at Nashik entry side.
 
In 973 cases, vehicles were spotted to be entering on the expressway from prohibited side. The number of cases for eight entry points in this regard was as follows: Aurangabad -- 240, Shrirampur -- 215, Jalna -- 144, Nashik -- 120, Washim --- 81, Buldhana -- 74, Nagpur -- 55, and Amravati -- 44. Thus, the highest number of prohibited entry was reported in Aurangabad. As a matter of abundant precaution, MSRDC has even affixed reflective tapes on 524 vehicles, with the highest 306 vehicles at Nagpur entry point. As far as exit side of the expressway is concerned, counselling of drivers was done for overspeeding, lane-cutting, vehicles in no parking area, and vehicles lacking reflectors.
 
The violations were detected through computer system and interceptor vehicles. Of these cases, 1,167 cases were detected through computer system. Among other violations detected through interceptor vehicles were 302 of lane-cutting, 201 of vehicles parked in no parking area, 108 vehicles lacking reflectors, and 77 cases of overspeeding. Besides, on-road checking is being done for road safety. During such on-road checking also several violations were detected. These included 2,967 of vehicles parked in no parking area, 1,904 of lane-cutting, 935 of vehicles lacking reflectors, and 167 cases of overspeeding.
