CONTINUING her successful run, city lass Nehal Gosavi outclassed Sanika Patankar of Pune in the semi-finals of Under-19 girls singles of the ongoing Chhatrapati Shivajiraje Bhonsale Memorial Maharashtra State Selection Badminton Tournament being played at Satara. Nehal recorded a 21-14, 21-9 victory to storm into the final. In the first game both the players engaged in some good rallies. However, Nehal managed to find winners by mixing her strokes well and won the first game 21-14.
 
In the second game Nehal started well and played at a faster pace to gain a good lead and never looked back to win it 21-9. Nehal, who is coached by Kiran V Makode (Junior India coach), will play against Madhumati Narayan of Thane in the final, on Tuesday. Later in the mixed doubles quarter-finals, Nehal along with Nagesh Chamal overcame a stiff challenge from Nagpur’s Nikita Joseph and Devesh Jena to win the match 21-18, 10-21, 21-16. However in the mixed doubles semis played later in the evening, a tired Nehal and Nagesh went down to top seeds Shreyas Sane and Aarti Chougale of Pune 21-15, 21-3.
