Mungantiwar approves water management plan for upcoming projects at Gorewada Zoo

Forest Minister Sudhir Mungantiwar, on Thursday, instructed Forest Development Corporation of Maharashtra (FDCM) to make arrangements of excess water to cater to the future demand of upcoming projects at Balasaheb Thackeray Gorewada International Zoo. Mungantiwar was in city on Thursday and he chaired a meeting at FDCM Office, Hingna Road to review various projects run by FDCM in Nagpur and Chandrapur districts. In the meeting, the Forest Minister said, “The upcoming projects in Gorewada Zoo like African Safari, Night Safari, Gondwana Museum etc. will require more water for visitors. Therefore, FDCM should make plan with Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) for supply of water from nearby water bodies through pipelines laid by FDCM itself.”
 
The Forest Minister allowed FDCM to lay pipeline with its fund as early as possible for the upcoming projects in the Zoo. The Minister also directed senior officials of FDCM to appoint an advisor for establishing the proposed International-level Zoological Park in Chandrapur. Mungantiwar, in the meeting, said that the new proposed Zoo in Chandrapur should be established on the basis of Gorewada Zoo. FDCM has provided best quality teakwood from Gadchiroli for construction of furniture and other wooden artefacts of Central Vista Project. It has also provided teakwood for construction of Ram Mandir in Ayoddha. In the meeting, on Thursday, the Forest Minister also approved to provide more best-quality teakwood to Ram Mandir for construction of furniture. The meeting was attended by B Venugopal Reddy, Principal Secretary (Forest); Dr Y L P Rao, PCCF (HoFF); Vikas Gupta, Managing Director, FDCM; Sanjeev Gaur, Chief General Manager, FDCM; and Saurav Singh, Company Secretary.
