IT WAS another fantastic performance by 17 years old young Indian Grandmaster Nagpur’s Raunak Sadhwani at the Summer Classic 2023 held at St Louis Chess Club, Missouri, United States of America. In the competition, Sadhwani claimed second spot to record another podium finish at the super strong invitational round robin event comprising 10 players. After Sadhwani won the Serbia Masters, St Louis Chess Club invited the Indian GM for the prestigious Summer Classic 2023. Sadhwani scored 5.5 points out of possible nine rounds with three wins, five draws and a loss. It was an incredible display of prowess by Raunak who performed with a rating performance of 2688. He gained 8 ELO rating points .
“Consistency is very important part in any sport. I am really happy with my consistent performance after Serbia Masters. I tried my best to score half a point more to emerge champion against this strong field but was unable to do it this time. But I am satisfied with my performance. I will work hard, stay focused towards my goals and give my best in my upcoming tournaments this year,” said Sadhwani through a media release. “I want to thank my parents for always encouraging me to take new challenges and for their constant support. Also, like to thanks Indian Oil Corporation, my coaches and West Bridge Anand Chess Academy,” added the release.
