A dispute over finances culminated in the murder of Sana Khan, a 34-year-old functionary of Bharatiya Janata Party’s Minority Cell from Awasthi Nagar. Investigation revealed that a disagreement over Rs 5 lakh and jewelry escalated to a fatal confrontation. According to police, Sana Khan alias Heena Khan, had reportedly given Rs 5 lakh and jewellery worth Rs 2 lakh to Amit alias Pappu Shahu (35), a resident of Rajul Township, Gora Bazar, Jabalpur. The funds were intended to launch Ashirwad Dhaba near Katangi, Jabalpur. The business partnership turned sour when Amit allegedly failed to distribute the profits as agreed upon, added police.
An official privy to the investigation said that Sana had married Amit in April this year, shortly before the murder. The relationship seemed to deteriorate soon after, as Amit ceased sharing the profits with Sana. Matters escalated on August 1 during a video call between Amit and Sana. During the call, Sana noticed that a gold chain she had gifted Amit was absent. This information sparked a heated argument between the two, claimed police. During the argument, Sana asked Amit to return Rs 5 lakh she had invested in the Dhaba. Amit invited Sana to Jabalpur for discussion. As a result, Sana went to Jabalpur on August 2. Upon her arrival at Amit’s residence, a confrontation took place. In a fit of rage, Amit allegedly struck Sana on the head thrice with a stick. She collapsed on the ground, She was bleeding profusely. Before she could get medical help, Sana succumbed to her injuries on the spot.
Later, Amit with the assistance of his friend Rajesh Singh, reportedly concealed Sana’s body by placing it in a bag. the duo put the bag in the car and drove towards Hiran river dam. Suddenly, it started raining heavy. This disturbed their plan. They tossed the body in the dam but it was washed away. The City police and State Disaster Management team launched extensive search operation covering approximately three-and-a-half kilometers in the river. However, Sana’s body could not be traced yet. Amit Shahu and Rajesh Singh were arrested by the police at Jabalpur on Friday. The accused duo was presented before the court on Saturday. The court granted their remanded in police custody till August 18. DCP Zone II Rahul Madne is investigating the case.
