Freedom Fighter Komalchand Jain inaugurated the photo exhibition ‘Desh Vibhajan Vibhishika Smriti Diwas’ organized during the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsava at Jabalpur Railway Station Platform No-1, on Monday. The exhibition is being organized simultaneously at Jabalpur, Bhopal and Kota divisions on the historic occasion of 76th year of independence and remembering the contribution of freedom fighters in independence of the nation. On the occasion, DRM Jabalpur, Vivek Sheel, ADRM, Pradeep Kumar, other senior officers of Jabalpur division along with eminent residents, students of scout and guide, RPF personnel and railway Freedom Fighter Dr Krishna Modi is the pride of Waraseoni town as at a small age of just 12 years he actively participated in the freedom movement. Dr Modi proudly shares his memories of freedom struggle. It is a rare opportunity to get first hand account of situations, emotions running in the country during the freedom movement.
 
Waraseoni town has maximum number of freedom fighters who participated in the freedom movement. 94-year-old Dr Krishna Modi laments as his other collegaues of freedom struggle have left for heavenly abode. Though he belongs to Waraseoni, at present, he is staying in Pathakheda of Sarni district. He informed the gathering about the incidents occurred during freedom movement. He said at the age of 12, he was inspired by Harishankar Bansiwale, Motilala Nayak, C K Naidu, Dharmchand Solanki and others to participate in the freedom movement. He participated in the Satyagrah staged in the area in the year 1941. As he was just a child, his friends sent him back to home. Then on August 8, 1942, during Quit India Movement, he actively participated in the protest.
 
The police then started to arrest the protestors. On August 20, police opened fire on the freedom fighters and postman Dasharam Dakia was martyred. In memory of that incident, that spot is still known as Golibaar chowk. Freedom fighter Amar Singh and some other torched the Tihli Bai School and then he was left to his maternal place in Balaghat as police was searching for him. But he was missing home and so he ran away and midway was caught by the police. After interrogation, he was warned for not participating in the any other protests. He also shared his memories of grand celebration that was observed when India attained freedom. Each nook and corner of the town wore a festive look and people were beaming with happiness, he cncluded.
