CM calls on students to think big, set big goals, do something meaningful

Hamidia College Celebrates Amrit Mahotsav  
 
Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan while addressing Amrit Mahotsav 2023, of the establishment of Government Hamidia Arts and Commerce College, Bhopal on Wednesday announced that a modern and fully-equipped building would be constructed and new faculties would be introduced according to students’ requirement. He said that plans for the building site and other activities will be made after consultation. He expressed his commitment to working on students’ suggestions coordinating with the Bhopal Collector, Higher Education Department, and related agencies to complete these tasks. In his address, the Chief Minister said that every student has a chance to do something meaningful and significant for the country and society. Quoting Swami Vivekananda he said that those, who live for the nation are the winner in truest sense. Chouhan himself was a student of this college. He unvelied the statue of Swami Vivekananda at the college campus.
 
The Chief Minister said that college is a place where everyone greets each other with affection. He recalled his days as student. He said that the college has given several personalities, including former President of India Dr. Shankar Dayal Sharma, Late Babulal Gaur, Kailash Sarang, Laxmi Narayan Sharma, Nazma Heptulla, K N Pradhan, O N Shrivastav, Justice Faizanuddin, Hasnat Siddiqui. He acknowledged contributions of alumni from the college. He was shown a photo of 1978, refreshing his memories.
 
Chief Minister also remembered late Ramesh Sharma, whom he had frequent meetings. Swami Vivekananda is my role model: Chouhan said that we should live for the mother nation. Reiterating inspiring words of Swami Vivekananda, Chief Minister said that nothing is impossible for a right-thinking person. Remembering college day friends, Chauhan said that an informal gathering of old students will be organised. He mentioned many former students namely Prem Dheengra, Devendra Rawat, Mahendra Singh Bundela, Chhota Babu Rai, Surjit Chauhan and others. Library Building, Computer Lab Inaugurated: The Chief Minister inaugurated the college’s computer lab and library building. The library building is part of a World Bank project. He welcomed Devi Sharan Saxena, the student of the college’s first batch in 1946 and welfare officer. He unveiled a commemorative booklet on the occasion of the college’s Golden Jubilee. Smt. Pushpalata Chokse, gave a welcoming address. Member of Parliament Shri V.D. Sharma, Sushri Prajna Singh Thakur, Minister for Medical Education Minister Shri Vishvas Sarang, Mayor of Bhopal Smt. Malati Rai, Municipal Corporation President Shri Kishan Suryavanshi were present.
