PSGIC employees stage demonstrations

The public sector general insurance employees staged demonstrations against the Government, if their pending demands were not fulfilled by the Government. The call for the demonstration was given by the Joint Forum of Trade Unions and Associations (JFTU) in Public Sector General Insurance Companies (PSGIC) on August 23. A large number of PSGI employees gathered in front of the regional office of National Insurance Company Limited situated at Fidwi Tower, Mount Road, Sadar during lunch hour and staged huge demonstrations. Slogans were shouted against the Government and General Insurers (Public Sector) Association of India (GIPSA). After the demonstrations a gate meeting was held.
 
The aggrieved employees demanded the merger of PSGI companies and removal of para inserted in the notification of previous wage revision regarding performance linked wage revision w.e.f. August 2022. Prashant Dixit, General Secretary, General Insurance Employees’ Union, Western Zone and Convenor, JFTU Nagpur Regional Unit said, “To strengthen PSGI companies, merging of the companies is the only option”. He further stated that recruitment in all cadres is the need of the hour. He appealed to the employees to build pressure on Government through agitation’s, dharna and strike to achieve their legitimate demands.
 
Saurabh Tatekar conducted the meeting. A joint memorandum was submitted to the Chairperson, GIPSA through the Chief Regional Manager, National Insurance Co Ltd, Nagpur RO. Rajendra Saroj of National Insurance Co Officers Association and Praveen Dongre of All India SC/ST Employees Welfare Association also spoke at the meeting.
