The Nagpur Centre of The Indian Institute of Architects (IIA) is all set to celebrate culmination of its Golden Jubilee ‘Suvarna Siddhi’ on August 26. To commemorate this memorable day, the institute has organised an audio visual presentation by a renowned Conservation Architect, Author, Academician, Landscape Photographer and mountaineer Ar. J Ramanan on the topic ‘Conservation: An Architect’s Social Responsibility’. The event will be held at Banyan Hall, Chitnavis Centre, Civil Lines, Nagpur from 7.00 pm. Ar Parag Yelne, Chairman of the Nagpur Centre, said that IIA Nagpur will be completing 50 glorious years on the 51st Foundation Day on August 26.
 
“The 50th year being celebrated as ‘Swarnim Samvatsar’, will culminate on this day, and will be celebrated as ‘Suvarna Siddhi: Accomplishing the Golden Era’ started with ‘Prarambh’ on 50th Foundation Day,” he said. Ar. Parikshit Choudhari, Secretary of Nagpur Centre, said IIA Nagpur Centre believes in “Individual commitment to a group effort, sharing common visions, associating the strengths, complementing the weaknesses and encouraging the ideas”. IIA is a national body of architects in the country. Established in 1917, the Institute today has more than 25,000 members and plays a major role in promoting the profession of architecture and architectural education through its City Centres and State Chapters.
 
The Nagpur Centre - second City Centre of IIA, was established in 1973 by the then President of IIA Late Ar. Jamshed Burjor Aga. Late Ar. Shyam Mavlankar – the driving force behind formation of Nagpur Centre was the Founder Chairman. Prof. A.L Chattre and Prof. S A Deshpande was also instrumental in envisioning the goals and aspirations for the Centre and was part of the first executive committee.
