A RAID was conducted by team of the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Nagpur Branch, on August 18, 2023 at the premises of M/s Prayag Food Products, Paradgaon Road, Partur, District Jalna, Maharashtra. The team comprised of Piyush Wasekar, Joint Director, Sandesh Gokanwar, Deputy Director, Prashant Sakharkar, Graduate Engineer and Manish Muley, SSA.
During the raid, the above firm was found engaged in manufacturing 1 litre PET bottles of ‘Packaged Drinking Water’ (PDW) brand Aqualis with BIS certification mark and without having valid license from BIS. During visit around 638 boxes with 12 filled bottles of each 1 litre capacity sealed with BIS certification mark found in the dispatch section of the factory. Moreover, stock of around 106 corrugated boxes and 532 shrink packed boxes with BIS certification were found in factory premises.
The raid was conducted under the guidance of Hemant B Ade, Director and Head, Nagpur Branch office, BIS. Further, appropriate legal actions as per the provisions of BIS Act 2016 shall be initiated against the firm and its partners/proprietors.
