Deprived pensioners to stage protest in front of Mantralaya on August 10

PENSIONERS of State have expressed dissatisfaction over the administration’s order issued to give 5 per cent Dearness Allowance to pensioners from July 23. Opposing the order, pensioners have decided to stage a massive protest in front of the Mantralaya at Nava Raipur on August 10. President of Chhattisgarh Rajya Sanyukt Pensioners Federation Virendra Nandev said that in another order, the administration has stated of paying 4 per cent dearness allowance only to the employees and the pensioners have been left out again.

The Madhya Pradesh government has been seeking consent for giving dearness allowance to the pensioners for six months citing Section 49, but the indifference of the Chhattisgarh government is depriving benefits to 6 lakh pensioners of both the states. Out of the derived pensioners, one lakh are from Chhattisgarh who are waiting for the due 9 per cent dearness allowance. The pensioners of both the states were confident and were waiting for the 9 per cent order in their favour, but 4 per cent Dearness Allowance announced for employees and ignorance for pensioners, he added.

In a meeting held recently, State Convener of Pensioners Federation Virendra Namdev, State President of Pensioners Welfare Association Dr D P Manhar, State President of Indian State Pensioners Federation J P Mishra, State President of Pensioners Association Yashwant Dewan, Regional President of Progressive Pensioners Welfare R P Sharma, National Secretary of State Pensioners Federation Puran Singh Patel and Divisional President of Madhya Pradesh Pensioners Association (Indore) Govind Vyas along with pensioners organisation office bearers from different districts also expressed their dissatisfaction over the order of 5 per cent issued by the State Government. It was unanimously decided in the meeting that pensioners will stage massive demonstration in front of Mantralaya in Nava Raipur on August 10, demanding 9 per cent allowance including arrears and repeal of Section 49.
