Big relief for aspiring teachers as State to launch ‘Pavitra portal’ within a week

The State Government, on Tuesday, submitted before the Nagpur Bench of Bombay High Court that it intends to launch the long-awaited ‘Pavitra portal’ within a week. The announcement comes as a big relief for aspiring teachers who had been awaiting their appointments for the past few years. The State Government decision comes in response to a recent High Court (HC) order that required approval for staffing patterns of teaching and non-teaching staff’s appointments within fifteen days. The ‘Pavitra Portal’, which has remained closed since 2017, has been a subject of contention between the Government and educational institutions seeking to fill vacant teaching and non-teaching positions.
HC had initially issued an interim order banning appointments, which was later overturned by the Aurangabad Bench, prompting the approval for staffing pattern and roster submission within the stipulated time frame. A hearing was conducted before Justices Avinash Gharote and Mahendra Chandwani on Tuesday. The Government emphasised that teachers’ recruitment was set to start in August, but due to the closed status of the ‘Pavitra Portal’, educational institutions were unable to input vacancy information, leading to an impasse in appointments. The Backward Classes Department’s approval is awaited before the official launch of the ‘Pavitra Portal’, which is expected to facilitate the process of teaching and non-teaching staff’s appointments across the state. Adv Kalyani Deshpande presented arguments on behalf of the Government while Adv Anand Parchure represented the educational institutions.
