ST FRANCIS De Sales (SFS) School pipped arch rivals St John’s High School to clinch the Subroto Mukherjee Cup Under-14 football title the other day. In an exciting final, both the teams played a tough game but it was the Sadar-based school who took the lead in the 19th minute of play. Rafay Khan helped his school put their nose ahead with a fine goal. St John’s tried hard to find the equaliser but failed to breach SFS defence till the final whistle.
In the third position match, Islamia High School defeated Centre Point School, Dabha by two goals to nil. Sheikh Saquib gave Islamia High School the lead in the 12th minute and Sheikh Arman doubled it in the 29th minute. In the Under-17 boys’ title clash, CPS Dabha ousted Chandadevi Saraf School by a solitary goal. The all important goal was scored by Praneel Ghoshal in the 7th minute.
