Jabalpur police obtained major success in view of upcoming Assembly Election and nabbed 38 criminals with sharp-edged weapons and fire arms in last 24 hours. They seized 02 country-made pistols, 02 country-made revolvers, 04 live cartridges, 32 sharp-edged weapons and 02 swords from their possession, informed Tushar Kant Vidyarthi, Superintendent of Police, Jabalpur. SP Vidyarthi was interacting with media during a conference called on Thursday to disclose about police action to maintain law and order situation in the city and arrest of habitual criminals. According to him, all the gazette officers and TIs are especially instructed to identify anti-social elements and criminals carrying arms and weapons and take stern action against them.
 
Following the orders, teams from different police stations led by ASP (City), Priyanka Shukla IPS, ASP (Crime), Samar Verma, ASP (City South), Kamal Mourya, ASP (City North/Traffic), Pradeep Kumar Shende, ASP (Rural), Suryakant Sharma and Sonali Dubey, arrested 38 criminals and anti-social elements with lethal weapons. Under which, Khamariya Police arrested 19-year old Raj Sonkar, a resident of Bhantallaiya wanted under Section 34(2) Excise Act, with a country-made pistol and 01 live cartridge from Westland. Khamariya police initiated action under Sections 25 and 27 Arms Act. The joint team of Crime Branch and Garha police station arrested 24-year old Dhananjay Chakraborty, a resident of Sharda Chowk, Bedi Nagar, under Sections 25 and 27 of Arms Act after seizing 01 country-made revolver and 01 cartridge from him. Garha Police arrested 27-year old Sadan Upadhayay, son of Ramkumar Upadhayay residing at Mahgawan Pariyat under Panagar police station from Medical ground with 01 country-made pistol and 01 cartridge.
 
Police registered a case under Sections 25 and 27 of Arms Act. Hanumantal police acted on a tip off, arrested 39-year old Mehandi Hasan Ansari from behind Dadamiya Mazaar, with a country-made revolver loaded with 01 live cartridge and booked him under Sections 25 and 27 of Arms Act. Police also arrested 34 anti-social elements and criminals with 32 sharp-edged weapons and 2 swords under different police stations.
