BHAVAN’S Bhagwandas Purohit Vidya Mandir Schools’ basketball teams gave a stellar performance as they clinched the Under-17 and Under-14 titles, on Saturday. The District Sports Office organised tournament saw BVM Trimurti Nagar branch girls clinching the Under-17 crown and the Srikrishna Nagar branch grabbing the Under-14 trophy at Nutan Bharat Yuvak Sangh’s basketball courts, Bajaj Nagar. Nandini Chandak (6) and Swanandi Nagmote (4) did the scoring as Bhavan’s Trimurti Nagar beat their Civil Lines branch 34-25 to wrest the Under-17 title. The quarterwise score was 4-0, 1-2, 2-4, 4-0.
Riddhi Borkar scored four points to reduce the margin of defeat for BVM, Civil Lines. In the U-14 final, BVM, Srikrishna Nagar beat Sanjuba High School 19-17 for the top prize. Pankhudi Bade (8) and Vritti Punekar (6) scored for BVM while for Sanjuba High School, Neharika Deoghare scored 10 baskets. The quarterwise score was 1-5, 6-0, 7-6, 5-6. In the boys section, Sanskar Vidyasagar emerged victors after they beat Narayana Vidyalayam 34-25 in the summit clash.
RESULTS: U-17 (NMC Schools): Boys (Final): Sanskar Vidyasagar (Gandharva Naik 13, Sahil Dhage 8) bt Narayana Vidyalayam (Sadhil Dube 12) 34-25 (10-7, 5-10, 12-6, 9-2).
U-17 Girls (NMC Schools) (Final): BVM, Trimurti Nagar (Nandini Chandak 6, Swanandi Nagmote 4) bt BVM, Civil Lines (Riddhi Borkar 4) 11-6 (4-0, 1-2, 2-4, 4-0). Semi-finals: BVM, Trimurti Nagar (Nandini Chandak 11) bt Hadas High School (Anandi Sonewane 2) 19-2 (11-0, 6-0, 0-1, 2-1); BVM, Civil Lines (Riddhi Borkar 12) bt Saraswati Vidyalaya (Nishita Bakre 7) 19-17 (4-7, 5-2, 8-4, 2-0).
