VIDARBHA’S double Ranji Trophy and Irani Cup winning skipper Faiz Fazal has emerged as top run getter in NCU Premier League. With as many as 1131 runs for Lisburn’s top team, the southpaw opener topped the chart with a fine average of 62.83. Faiz scored two hundreds with a top score of unbeaten 147 and hit seven fifties in the 21 matches he played in Ireland. He had scored one more hundred but the game was abandoned due to rain.
Three more batters scored in four digits in the season — Waringstown’s Morgan Topping (1088; average 45.33) and Greg Thompson scored (1081; average 56.89), and Abhishek Raut (1023; average 60.18) of Cliftonville Academy. Michael Rippon achieved the best average for the season with 65.92. Another former Vidarbha player — opener-stumper Aniruddha Chore ended the assignment scoring 960 runs with a top-score of 137* and a decent average of 56.47.
The stats are for matches in the Premier Leagues, Challenge Cup, Bob Kerr Irish Senior Cup, National Cup, T20 Leagues and Cups (including All Ireland T20s). Only performances in the Premier League, Challenge Cup and T20 Cup qualify for the annual NCU awards.
