Homing the prestigious defence establishments, the city needs to feature its significance with the establishment of a Defence Park which will also prove a tourism attraction in Jabalpur. The concept of Defence Park is unique in its kind in the country to showcase the vital role of city in national security. Along with abundance of natural, religious and historic attractions, Jabalpur is also known as a hub of defence production and services with the establishment of Ordnance Factory Khamaria (OFK), Gun Carriage Factory (GCF), Vehicle Factory Jabalpur (VFJ), Grey Iron Foundry (GIF), 506 Army Base Workshop, Central Ordnance Depot (COD), EME, Headquarters of Madhya Bharat Area, Jammu and Kashmir Rifles Regimental Centre (JAK RRC), The Grenadiers Regimental Centre (GRC), 1 Signals Training Centre (1 STC), College of Materials Management (CMM) and Zonal Army Recruitment Office of MP & CG.

 

These defence establishments are occasionally organising separate activities to introduce themselves as key components of national security amongst common people. There is a need to develop a common platform to bring together defence products and general information of these defence establishments under a single roof. Along with developing patriotic spirit amongst residents the Defence Park will also encourage youngsters towards defence services. The ordnance factories have lots of scrapped ammunition shells, guns, defence vehicles and other defence equipments while three army regiments have glorious history of bravery in battle fields.
