AFTER visiting the war memorial in Dras and learning about the valour of our brave soldiers, I felt immense pride. The visit to the Dras War Memorial is inspiring and energizing, intensifying the feelings of patriotism, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said. Chief Minister Shinde, who has been on a tour of Kashmir since Sunday, visited the Dras War Memorial in Kargil district on the second day of his tour and paid tribute to the martyrs of ‘Operation Vijay’ by laying a wreath.
 
Major General Sachin Malik, District Commissioner of Kargil Shrikant Suse, District Police Chief of Kargil Vinayat Ali, founder of ‘Sarhad’ Sanjay Nahar, senior journalist Shriram Pawar, founder and chairman of ‘Arham’ group Dr. Shailesh Pagariya, member of ‘Sarhad’ Anuj Nahar, Brigadier Sumit, Colonel Shashank, Lieutenant Colonel Sandeepsingh Dullat, marathon organizer Vasant Gokhale, technical director Sumit Vaykar, physiotherapist Ali Irani, among others, were present. He also honoured the soldiers stationed in Dras. On this occasion, the Indian Army honoured the Chief Minister.
 
Our soldiers gave a befitting reply to Pakistan in the Kargil war. Many of our soldiers were martyred in this war. The valour of these soldiers is conveyed to the public through the Dras War Memorial, which is inspiring for everyone, Chief Minister Shinde told reporters. The ‘Sarhad’ organization has been doing commendable work in Kashmir, and Chief Minister Shinde appreciated their efforts and the service of the soldiers. On this occasion, the Marathi-translated version of General Vedprakash Malik’s book ‘Kargil: From Surprise to Victory’ was also launched by Chief Minister Shinde.
