Deputy Chief Minister and Guardian Minister Devendra Fadnavis camped in city on the weekend and took a tour of the flood affected areas on Sunday morning for taking stock of the damage and assess the ground situation. During the visit, Fadnavis interacted with citizens, giving a patient hearing to their plight. He visited Ambazari overflow point, Ambazari Layout, Daga Layout, Corporation Colony, Shankar Nagar, Gandhi Nagar areas. Fadnavis was accompanied by Dr Abhijeet Chaudhari, Municipal Commissioner and Administrator; Dr Vipin Itankar, District Collector; Aanchal Goyal, Additional Municipal Commissioner; Manoj Talewar, Superintending Engineer; Dr Gajendra Mahalle, Deputy Commissioner, Solid Waste Management; Ajay Mankar, Executive Engineer; Sandip Joshi, ex-Mayor and Honorary Secretary of Deputy Chief Minister; Nanda Jichkar; ex-Mayor, Avinash Thakre, Pramod Chikhale, Pradip Pohane, Ramesh Shingare, Gopal Bohare, Lahukumar Behete, Meenakshi Telgote, Pallavi Shamkule, Ashwini Jichkar, Dr Parineeta Fuke, all ex-corporators and other officers and citizens.

Fadnavis visits
 
Fadnavis started from Ambazari Overflow point, during which Dr Chaudhari briefed him about the information regarding flood affected areas. Heavy and incessant rains led to overflow of Ambazari Lake and since the downpour was quite intense, the flood waters gushed into homes in low lying area along the banks of the river. After the water receded, the administration moved in to provide required help to citizens. Fadnavis visited all the places and took stock of the situation. He interacted with the people and on their request, also visited their home to take a look at the damage cause due to floods. He instructed the administration to expedite the relief to affected citizens.
 
Fadnavis appreciated the bravery shown by Krishna Banai and Vilop Kaole, who work in Tax Department of NMC’s Nehru Nagar Zone, as they saved life of five members of Mohata family. Fadnavis, while interacting with the citizens, assured of expediting panchnama so that financial support can be released forthwith. Meanwhile, the roads in the flood affected locality have become slippery due to presence of large quantity of sludge. Administration has taken-up work of desilting on top priority in a bid to restore normalcy. As a precautionary measures, Health Department have distributed Chlorine tablets among citizens in affected areas.
