Mayor Jagat Bahadur Singh along with other dignitaries inaugurated the International Business Meet ‘Business Beyond Borders’ organised by Madhya Pradesh Association of Woman Entrepreneurs (MAWE) at a city hotel, on Monday. Mag Jones (Former Chief Women Economic Empowerment Officer), Angela Davis (Joint Programme Coordinator UN Women Caribbean), Dr Mariam Shakeela (Chairperson of Women’s Chamber of Commerce Maldives), Emma Kavava (Tanzania Women Roundtable) and others were the special guests of the event. Speaking on the occasion Mayor Singh stressed the need to promote women and introduce women entrepreneurs from small cities like Jabalpur to the global market. He praised MAWE’s efforts in this regard, acknowledging them as commendable.
 
Expressing views on the occasion, MAWE’s Chairperson and Founder President, Dr Archana Bhatnagar provided detailed information about the necessity of International Business Meet. She highlighted MAWE’s continuous commitment to women’s economic development since 2000, focusing on bringing opportunities to women through various projects. She mentioned that MAWE had successfully hosted the SWEEP (Support for Women’s Economic Empowerment Programme) in Jabalpur in 2017 and 2019, with the 2020 edition taking place in Bhopal. During the panel discussions, led by Mag Jones from Australia, featured panelists Gail Golok, Lilian Alok, Emma Kababa and Dr Archana Bhatnagar, talk strategies for expanding businesses beyond borders and sharing their experiences in successfully running their ventures.
 
IAS P Narhari, Chief Secretary of Industries Department and Commissioner for Industrial Promotion, moderated another panel discussion. Panelists Chitra Chidanand (Founder of SALT), Nitin Bhatnagar (Director of Haylide), Professor Satyajeet Majumdar (Professor and Dean at TISS Mumbai), and Dr Mariam Shakeela (Chairwoman of Women’s Chamber of Commerce Maldives) deliberated on the employment challenges posed by AI tools like chatbots and GPT, as well as the new business opportunities that have emerged. The meet will continue on Tuesday. Usha Gupta, Chandra Mahidhar, Amarjeet Uppal, Nisha Nair, Jasmeet, Priyanka, Anisha Chadha, Nazish Khan, Harmeet and Seema Swami played a key role in making event ‘Business Beyond Borders’ a success.
