CHIEF Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Wednesday unveiled development works worth Rs 1021.59 crore for Raipur. He also performed bhoomipujan of seven major development works in the capital city. Public Works Minister Tamradhwaj Sahu was present in the programme organised at Navin Market here at Tatyapara. Besides unveiling development works and bhoomipujan, the Chief Minister also paid tribute to Khubchand Baghel by garlanding his statue at Naveen Market in Tatyapara area. In his address, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel said “Protecting and serving the public interest is the top priority of our government, and it is also the basis of all the development works we approve”. The Chief Minister said that in last three months alone, State Government has inaugurated and laid foundation of development works worth Rs 3,600 crore, which will hugely benefit people of the state. With the construction of Kharun River front, people of the city will get a new recreating destination to visit where they can spend quality time with their families, he added. He said that five years ago, following the footsteps of Khubchand Baghel and other great visionaries of Chhattisgarh, his government is determined to achieve the goal of ‘Gadbo Nava Chhattisgarh’. He said “Our government has taken significant steps towards boosting people’s income and we are continuously building world class infrastructure in the state”.
 
Addressing the programme Public Works Minister Tamradhwaj Sahu congratulated people of Raipur city for the new development works worth more than Rs 1000 crore. He said that in the last five years, a network of roads and bridges has been laid in the entire State. During the special programme, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel performed bhoomipujan for road widening works from Sharda Chowk, GE Road to Tatyapara Chowk, worth Rs 134.66 crore. Widening of this road will ease traffic and people will get rid of major inconvenience. Bhoomipujan of 6-lane fly overbridge construction work worth Rs 473.13 crore from Ring Road No 1 and Telibandha Chowk to Agrasen Dham Chowk at Labhandi was performed. Similarly, construction, development and beautification works of Kharun River Front in Mahadev Ghat and Chandnidih worth Rs 197.36 crore will be done in Raipur city.
 
In the series of Bhoomipujans, it was also for a six-lane road construction work connecting airport and an elevated corridor en-route Expressway (Temri) to Mana VIP Road of Raipur city, worth Rs 156.27 crore. Bhoomipujan was also performed for construction work of flyover on National Highway-53 near Udyog Bhawan Mahavir Nagar on Ring Road No 1 at the cost of Rs 42.42 crore, construction work of Modern Tehsil Office Building under the Revenue and Disaster Department worth Rs 11.50 crore along with bhoomipujan of head office building of Chhattisgarh State Renewable Energy Development Agency (CREDA) to be constructed in Nava Raipur Sector-24, Kayabandha. Parliamentary Secretary Vikas Upadhyay, Chairman Housing Board Kuldeep Juneja, Chairman of Chhattisgarh Mineral Development Corporation Girish Dewangan, Chairman Waqf Board Salam Rizvi, District Panchayat President Domeshwari Verma, Additional Chief Secretary Subrat Sahoo, Secretary Public Works Department Alok Katiyar along with other public representatives and officials were present.
